Together Sylvie Belanger and Diane Ferland create the dynamic partnership that is Cassandre Glass Studio. Using 100% recycled glass the duo has been gaining international attention for their works over the past decade. The unique process of casting glass begins with the fabrication of their design into a sand mold. The humid sand is molded into a shape creating a cavity. Various glass frits, or powdered glasses are layed into the sand. Then molten clear glass is carefully poured into the mold. The piece is then placed into specialized ovens for two days of cooling. The result is a work of art that has one roughly textured side dispersing light and the other side stays silky smooth. Add some distinction to your home with both functional and non-functional art from one of the most distinguished glass casting studios in North America.
